Switching power supplies use technology that makes them more compact and economical than older transformer-based power supplies. They also incorporate numerous safety features: surge protection, short-circuit protection, and overload protection.
The AAD and ADSK power supplies also feature a circuit capable of absorbing current surges caused by the deceleration of stepper motors. They are therefore particularly durable and recommended for motor drives (letter M in the model reference).
